While the firm’s aim is to achieve a quick, economically favorable resolution to disputes, sometimes trying a case is unavoidable. At that point, you want attorneys with trial experience who know how to strategize for the courtroom.
Reuben Raucher & Blum has that experience with juries and judges, in both the federal and state judicial systems, as well as before private arbitration organizations such as the American Arbitration Association, ARC, ADR Services and JAMS. The firm also regularly handles appellate matters and is often brought into a matter just for its extensive appellate expertise.
Many of our clients come through referrals from other lawyers who recognize the quality legal services we provide. In addition, our lawyers hold leadership positions in professional organizations and bar associations, and are frequent speakers and authors on cutting-edge legal issues in both the litigation and family law areas.
In the summer of 1992, Timothy Reuben set up the shop that would one day become Reuben Raucher & Blum in temporary offices with just a secretary and a paralegal. Having left a position as head of litigation in an established firm, and with top job offers from major firms on the way, this was only supposed to be a temporary way to service clients while weighing options.
But things worked so smoothly, and the benefits to the clients were so obvious, that Reuben realized he’d started something that was meant to last. And so he turned down the various offers and started to build a litigation boutique. And it all worked.
Since its beginning, the firm has handled a broad range of all types of complex litigation, including matters in securities, anti-trust, entertainment, finance, employment, construction, and real estate. Significant successes early on included representation of the Angelus Plaza, the largest low-income senior center in America, against the multinational conglomerate corporation Honeywell in a complex matter involving intellectual property, real estate, and construction issues. Reuben tried the case twice and it ultimately went all the way to the California Supreme Court where the firm successfully obtained and confirmed a multi-million-dollar verdict for the client.
Partner Stephen Raucher joined the firm only two years after its founding in 1994 as a second-year associate and earned a fast-track to partnership through the merit of his impressive track record and tireless work on behalf of clients. He soon developed enormous expertise in civil litigation and insurance coverage. Raucher and Reuben worked together as a team in significant and complex cases in the area of real estate, construction and insurance coverage. One example involved representation of low-income housing property Rio Vista against multiple contractors, subcontractors, and insurers involving both trials and appeals, which ultimately resulted in recovery of over $18,000,000 for the client.
Partner Stephanie Blum established the Family Law Department upon joining the firm in 2004, and as a firm leader developed and incorporated bold plans to diversify the firm’s practice offerings beyond its roots in traditional business and civil litigation.
After ten years in Beverly Hills and fourteen in Westwood, the firm officially became Reuben Raucher & Blum in 2005, with Reuben serving as managing attorney and CEO. The firm continued its migration towards the Pacific, opening their current offices in the heart of Brentwood in 2018.
