Victory on Appeal: RRB Secures $1M+ Benefit for Commercial Property Client in Complex Partnership Dispute
RRB successfully represented a joint venturer in a high-stakes partnership dispute involving a commercial property, obtaining a favorable reversal from the Court of Appeal. The client had secured a judgment permitting him to buy out his partners’ joint venture interests based on a 2013 property appraisal. However, when the partners refused to complete the sale at the appraised price, the client sought an order to force the sale based on the judgment.
However, the trial court declined to enforce the judgment, finding that the price had not been set. Steve Raucher of RRB appealed the decision, arguing that the trial court’s refusal to act was an abuse of discretion. The Court of Appeal agreed and reversed the lower court’s ruling, ordering the sale to proceed—even instructing that the Court itself could sign the transfer documents if necessary.
Due to significant property appreciation during the prolonged litigation, this hard-fought victory will deliver a benefit exceeding $1 million to the client.

RRB Wins Trademark Dispute: Secures Injunction and Shuts Down Competitor’s Business
In The Peonies Shop LLC, et al. v. Trading Capital Corporation et al., Tim Reuben obtained complete vindication of client’s trademark rights, obtaining injunctive relief and eliminating a competitor’s business in its entirety after it was found advertising and operating a substantially similar business under a substantially and confusingly similar name as our client. Tim also secured our client’s right to seek $20,000 per violation as liquidated damages in addition to attorneys’ fees and costs.

RRB Secures Appellate Victory in Complex Child Support and Fee Dispute
Tim Reuben and Stephanie Blum successfully reversed the trial court’s orders regarding child support, attorney’s fees, and discovery sanctions. Tim persuaded the appellate court that the trial court failed to exercise the required independent judgment in determining the proper support for a child born of an affair between a successful author and her unemployed mother. Taking up the battle for the mother who lacked the financial capacity to pay for his efforts, Stephanie first obtained a fee award for the appeal, while Tim successfully argued the appeal to not only obtain the right for a complete new trial on support, but also reversed sanctions against the mother and obtained the right to seek more attorneys fees from the father. Stephanie thereafter obtained a significant additional fee award as well as a substantial settlement for the mother and child.
